Toy photography is an great time pass and the fun quotient multiples when you add Captain America action figure to the mix. I wanted to do a greeting card for “4th of July” using my action figure and that got me going end up doing a full on toy photography session to celebrate the day. I did two shoots one indoor, which I ended up using for my card. The second is an outdoor photo shoot, which got me these beautiful shots.
Before I started this outdoor shoot, I did some research and found some comic poses to execute! But to add some 4th of July into to the photo I needed a flag. Fortunately my crafter sister helped me with a flag with some bending effect to enhance the shot.
But then there is this one other issue… this Captain America action figure came only with two fisted hands so I needed a open hand donor! Then fortunately Marvel Legends “Elektra” become my hand donor! Though a little small on Cap’s hand but is that obvious!
Fortunately for me the sun light did a favor and the overcast sky worked like a big lightbox. I did over 99 shot just to be sure the focus point and depth of field is optimal! Slight breeze disturbed the process but not that intrusive!
The close up of my Captain America figures also worked its own magic and the flying flag in the background adds some patriotic feel. My backyard garden gave me some extra texture and the purple flowers were nice touch of nature. Using a SLR and a prime lens has its own advantages… one being a soft bokeh effect.
Happy “4th of July” America! Hope you like this photo shoot, enjoy and let me know you thoughts and suggestion in comments section.
