ComicCon is one big event that you cannot misss even if you are remotely connected to pop culture and comics! For comic fans of Bangalore, Bangalore ComicCon is their holygrail event and I been visiting it since 2018 (Bangalore ComicCon 2018 Coverage here) and this year is quite a mixed bag as Marvel and DC have taken a step back and Japanese Anime/Manga took over the show! This is seen in all categories be it Cosplayers, Toy & Comic stores and also events.
We had fun exploring the toys stores and came back with tons of Anime statues photos, so here is my photo dump of all those cool statues. I am not a big Anime figure collectors but I being a toy collector, I do have some “Death Note” and few “One Piece” figurines just for added varieties! I even picked an Anime toy in 2019 Bangalore ComicCon, which got my attention.
I am no stranger to the anime status as mentioned above but not a serious collector as well! I like some anime characters like Monkey D. Luffy, Nico Robin, Sanji, Nami and few One Piece characters. So I can instantly identify these characters but this year I was exposed to so many other characters from the sea of Japanese anime statues.
If I have to take home one statue from this ComicCon, it will be this dragon (who dont like dragons) statue that stood tall and bright! it has some much details and for the a value for money at just under INR.8000! I saw few variant of this very character and this one on The Youth Space (theyouthspace.in) is the best and I loved it so much… I wanted to get it but my collecting has no space for this beauty so I skipped!
I have absolutely no idea who this guy is or which series is from… But I liked the sculpting and the paint details he came loaded with, which also got him the cover photo pride. What worked for this statue is its sculpture, posture and even the facial detailing. Color also played an important role here.
Last year’s ComicCon I observed few cool anime with blade sling effects and fell in love instantly! This year the sculptors have taken it to the next level and I see so many cool effects and they vary from blade sling to punch in every color human eye can see!
Anime figures do have some level of cortooney feel, which kind of gives a cute vibe! But they have a angry side as well… This year I experienced them and they are really detailed! Except for the eyes, nose and mouth… everything else is so real and these anime statues could challenge even some Marvel/DC characters.
I also liked some cool statues that don’t have fancy effects or backgrounds but really detailed face sculpts, textures and cloths (in dynamic poses) The body structure also were top class and the skin tone were captured well. Checkout these figures with clean body work and texture that could actually deceive you for real person if photographed under right lighting!
Not all Anime figures are angry or soft some are really hot even in their fighting action poses! The above two are the great example of that theory and how dangerous beauty could be! My personal favourite Nico Robin or Nami’s figures are not found else I would have taken it in a flash!
Overall the weekend well spend, at least with my camera, which is Nikon Z30 and it is his first ComicCon! Though I was not that happy as my favourite MCU or DC characters ding should show up in lot… Marvel and DC Comics need to something to penetrate our comic fans else its all AnimeCon next I guess! I had lot of fun going through these Anime figures and statues… Hope you had some fun too! Till next time… Ciao.
