Fantastic Four is one of my favourite animated series and I fell in love with the after watching the 2005 movie, my favourite characters from the movie was invisible woman(Jessica Alba) and human torch (Chris Evans). Since I started collecting action figures, I wanted to complete my Fantastic Four set but since I was not in the hobby till late 2017, I couldn’t get my hands on them! So I decided to build my own Fantastic Fantastic Four from the best action figures that comes into the market.
Thanks to newer version of Fantastic Four released this year, the action figures also stared showing up. Though I dint like the characters in action figure form but Jonny Storm in Human Torch form looked quite nice and I was waiting for that to show up in our market and picked one from “The Entertainment Store” Bangalore when it was on sale, which is highly unlikely to happen, I guess I got lucky.
The package is quite new in terms of graphics and even the color schema, with so many vintage elements. This Human Torch package get extra pep as the Jonny Storm in his Human Torch form fills up the white package very well. The blue highlights on the box also is done quite well and resonates the movie’s vintage vibe, with Easter eggs brown all around the package, like that small kid.
The back side of the package is all reserved for legal and statutory information, well almost, Jonny somehow found a way to sneak into the package and I love the way he is posed! I like a “Build a Figure” piece and most recent releases don’t have it and this is one of them. I am not complaining as this is the only figure from this release I am going to get.
The package consists of one Human Torch action figure and two swappable hands, yeah that all. Well wait this has some cool props, which I figures out later… The figure is secured nicely onto the blister and its friction fitted, so needed no tights of sorts. And the swappable hands are secured via a transparent tape.
The figure once unboxed, looks a little small but is accurate to scale. The orange body contrasts well with the white and blue box and I love that about it… but unfortunately I will check the boxes after initial photoshoot and review! That’s why I picked a slightly beaten box as I don’t care about the box like many mint boxed collectors.
This is a figure that need to be displayed not boxed! Yeah that’s right, this action figure is made of translucent material and it comes to life once you take him out of the package and hold it in hand! I am also looking forward to doing some toy photography with it and this translucent body comes in handy if I could shine some light through it.
This is a decent figure with most joints good to get him into some crazy action poses! What I like the most about this Human Torch figure is the joints and how Hasbro engineers have hidden it from us giving it a very seamless look. This one stands on his own without any support, which is a good thing, if you like displaying them in dioramas etc.
This Human Torch action figure is extremely detailed and has face sculpt that resembles the actor quite well. He being in a torch form, comes with flaming hair and a stack of fire effect around neck. What I don’t like about this figure is the eyes that is just white and makes him feel a little demonic.
The flame effect is there in his hands and they are not removable but the swappable hand has the removable flames, which I like some much. The fisted hand is also very nice and gives me lot of options to pose and click some great toy photos. The pin-less joints adds a bit of novelty and makes him seamless.
The flame effects follows him to his foot as well and the details on his foot is far nicer than the arms, that’s mostly because of the style and pattern that Hasbro decided to put. These flame effects all looks new, but I could be wrong as I am not an expert in action figure body parts. Overall this Human Torch is a great figure and this guy will go and accompany the Thing, which was released as Walgreens exclusive around 2017.
My Fantastic Four collection is half full now and I almost forgot that I have a Silver Surfer as well. I will wait for Hasbro to release/re-release the Invisible Woman and Mr.Fantastic but I don’t see that happening soon. Till the next movie hits the cinemas, I am left with these two only and call it “Fantastic Two” of “Fantastic Four”, which sounds good. I am planning to put up a full review of this Human Torch figure soon, so wait for it. Till then, Ciao.
