I love toy photography and this weekend I got my Captain America and Winter Soldier action figure as my prime subjects. As I have spend enough time with these figures, I though of doing some thing new! So I turned the subject into weekend meetup with their rides and brag about them.
Steve Rogers being a American hero got a Jeep Wrangler by Bruder. This Bruder Jeep fits Caps posture and height to a level. He with his off-road tuned Jeep makes it to the location first and takes in some fresh carbon free air. I tied some unconventional shot with Captain America and this shot of him siting on Jeep’s bonnet was my favorite.
Actually, this Bruder Jeep is a 1:16 and this Marvel Legends is 1:12 so I expected some level of missed proportion! But Jeep’s compact dimension was elevated by high raise suspension and big fat tire getting in sync with Caps proportion.
Bucky arrives to the meeting point in a crazy dirt bike Kawasaki KX 450F in green made by Newray. The proportional difference is not that obvious here because they both are 1/12 and the match is near perfect. This Marvel legends Winter soldier from gaintman wave come with raised index finger, which works perfectly to hold clutch and brake levers firmly.
Together these two looks super good though in movies Bucky and Cap stand around the same height, this Bucky is a bit taller, so I have to maintain the distance to keep cap from looking shorter. So I avoided certain angle to keep the height difference in check.
But some shots are cooler even though the height difference is evident! The buddies rubbing shoulder is a must because these guy’s friendship goes all the way to their childhood days. I personally love the backdrop formed by orange Jeep and green Kawasaki is makes this shot more interesting.
Bucky’s extra heigh help him stand up in his dirt bike and caps shorter posture help him stand cool with his Jeep. Bruder comes with opening doors, so leverage that to my advantage in this beautiful shot, which is lively and interesting.
Finally found a sweet spot where they both are balanced in height and looks perfect. I wanted to put the bike in the jeep back and it almost fitted in…yeah almost! Though half the bike is standing out, this give a new perception to friendship, what’s the point of having friend if they don’t stick together, so they decided to leave together for a beer!
Buddies always fight for car key before and after drinks, the same happened here so I decided to leave! Overall I loved this photo session because it had two Marvel characters who share a lot bro moment, two beautiful ride in bright colors and finally a great location (my backyard) to shoot.
